6 things to do in Bohol, other than the chocolate hills. This guide will help you experience a less touristy experience to this beautiful island.Everyone travels to Bohol to visit the Chocolate Hills mainly because of what they have seen on Instagram, a great picture of someone sitting on top of one, with no one else around. Unfortunately you can’t do this. There is one hill everyone walks up and it’s the look out point, not so great.

Equally the tarsiers sanctuary is very controversial as some people don’t agree with endangered animals being put on display for the paying public.

So here is a few things to do in Bohol which you might not know about.

Guindulman is is an area located to the South East are of the island of Bohol. We suggest visiting here if you want to do something slightly different in Bohol. Take a local bus to Guindulman whichcosts 85 peso per person. This bus will take an hour and a half.

Guindulman Tourist Inn 🏠

I guarantee if you speak English you won’t find nicer hotel owners than Derek and Anne. They are by far the most welcoming, funny and helpful people we have come across. They helped us rent a moped, gave us maps and local information and generally amazing people. The food at the hotel is out of this world. From struggling to find decent food, we then were struggling with how much food we could consume. Anne is the chef and wow is she good! The rooms are beautiful and spacious and by far the cleanest we’ve come across in the Philippines. The WiFi is great and there is a tv with lots of English channels and the air con is an extra if need be. Extremely reasonably well priced for a couple. We had a deluxe room and we didn’t want to leave !

This is where you get off the bus, look for the sign to the cemetry and the big white sign to Guindulman Bay Tourist Inn.

Lungsodaan fireflies and river boating🔥

Somewhere much more interesting for nature lovers than the Loboc river. Travel with local village representatives who are working with local fishermen to help protect the fireflies in the trees along this river.

Cabagnow cave pool💦

50 Peso Entrance fee may apply.

Just a short distance from the Combento Cave lies another exciting attraction that is frequently visited by both local and foreign tourists – the Cabagnow Cave. From the road, you just need to take about 200-meter walk following an unpaved trail amidst a dense greenery and towering coconut trees. You’ll know you are almost there when you can already hear festive noise – that’s most likely from the other tourists that have arrived ahead of you.

If you’re thinking that you could only see the grandeur of the rice terraces in Banaue, think again for Candijay will prove you wrong.

The terraces were formed from elevated areas converted into farmlands by the natives of barangay Cadapdapan long time ago.

6. Can – Umatad Falls 🌊

As you walk to the end of the Elecuterio Rice Terrace, climb down the steps on the right hand side and you will come across this waterfall.
