Getting to Bohol🚕
To get to Bohol you can get the ferry from Cebu or Dumaguete. In Dumaguete we would suggest to go around the corner from the main port to this marked location on the MAP to buy your ocean jet ticket ( the left red started dot). No queue, no drama and you can usually get the tickets for slightly cheaper.
It costs about 700-800 pesos per person which includes air-con seating area with set seats and a movie.. To us it’s worth it!
Going to Cebu after Bohol? ⛴️
The ferry from Bohol back to Cebu cost us 500 peso per person, 150 peso for a bag, 20 peso terminal fee.
The ticket office is just outside of the port and looks like the image below.
Accommodation in Bohol 🏠
Tagbilaran is the area where most backpackers stay and is the most popular.
Backpacker
For a basic double bed private room for 2 nights is around 2400 peso (£32) that works out to be £8 each a night which isn’t bad for couples.
Budget
£27 a night for a studio. £14 per person
Luxury
this is £££ a night but if you walk round to the beach side, they let you drink in the bar and if they aren’t looking, jump in the pool!
Where to Eat! 🥗
Shaka 🥗
Vegetarian eatery serving breakfast, smoothies, various dishes, and cocktails. Has a selection of burgers served with sundried tomato mayo and sweet potato chips. Previously at Aloha Beach. Mostly vegan, except for a few dishes with yogurt. Open Mon-Sun 6:30am-10:30pm.
Address: Panglao Island Circumferential Rd, Panglao, Bohol, Philippines
Outback
A western themed bar and grill but the food is amazing. Not only is the atmosphere great, the variety of food is great here too. Not your typical Filipino cuisine but a little treat never hurt anyone.

Things to do in Bohol
When going on trips in Bohol, always take cash for extra food and water, even if it is included in the price of your trip.
Loboc River Tour 🚣♂️
This trip is a river tour which stops off at a tribe and includes lunch.
Balicasag Island🏝️
700 peso – includes dolphin watching, snorkelling on Balicasag Island pictured below ( gear included ) turtle watching, sandbar called Virgin island.
Chocolate Hills 🍫
Chocolate Hills is a 1-2 hour drive from Alona Beach, the popular tourist region of Bohol, Philippines. We recommend not doing this on a moped as its a killer on your bum!
Tarsier Sanctuary
Controversial, these tiny monkeys are protected here, but they are still on show. Make your own mind up but we found it very uncomfortable to fund this sanctuary.
