It was named by the explorer Captain James Cook in 1770. Things to do in Batemans Bay
Botanical Gardens
Part of the Mogo Forest at approximately 42 hectares these amazing gardens are totally FREE. There are a number of walking tracks to choose from which range in length and difficulty. If walking isn’t your thing, bring the family along for a picnic in the garden area which is surrounded by kangaroos and lots of wildlife. Birdland Animal Park
Wombats Wombats Wombats. Even though they are not birds you can still get up close and personal with these fluffy creatures. With a wide selection of animals to interact with the Birdland, the Animal park is great for the whole family.
There are daily ‘meet the animals’ which did I mention involved cuddling a wombat! It also offers to see lots of other cool animals from Australia. Check the website for times and prices HERE

Deep-Sea Fishing
How about spending the day out at sea? Use one of the local chartered boat companies and spend the day deep-sea fishing and have an amazing lunch to go with it. There are a number of companies that go from the Marina. Your best bet is to head on down and see what is available for you.

Best Batemans Bay beaches
Surf Beach Batemans Bay
This beach is probably the most popular beach for locals and tourists. It has a number of facilities located on the beach and is great for surfers. It is located 10 minutes south of Central Batemans Bay.

 Pebbly and Depot Beach
These two beaches are very close to each other and both are located within the Murramarang National Park, around 15 minutes north of Batemans Bay. Â Technically we have now left the Eurobodalla Coastline and crossed over to the Shoalhaven Coastline but that’s okay as this is where you will be heading to next. Both beaches are stunning with walks along the coves and cliff edges.
This is also where you will find friendly kangaroos relaxing on the beach. For more information about visiting this National Park click HERE.
Location – Take the Princes Highway to East Lynne then turn into Mt Agony Road for sealed access all the way.

Mangrove Walk
Although not a beach, this is a beautiful spot to explore. With a walking track 2km long and a very easy gradient, this broad-walk track will offer you places to swim in crystal clear water along the way. Also, you will see a lot of wildlife in and around the mangroves.

Our cheap eat for Batemans Bay and you can’t go wrong with fish and chips!. This waterfront restaurant provides some of the best seafood in the bay and for a cheap price.

Our coffee stop choice for Batemans Bay is Crumb. This locally-owned cafe serves amazing brews along with the perfect brunch menu and has a super friendly staff. If you passing makes sure you pop in and grab a bite to eat.

Sam’s Pizzeria on the waterfront $$
Although not #1 on Trip Advisor Sam’s Pizzeria on the waterfront takes our number 1 spot. Not only for its amazing views looking out over the ocean but the pizza is to die for. This lovely restaurant is also reasonably priced so you won’t be breaking the bank.
