A short drive east from the coastal town of Albany sits Little Beach in the Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve and National Park. Whilst traveling along the south coast of Western Australia we decided that Two Peoples Bay was one of the top beaches we had ever visited in the world.
With white quartz sand that squeaks under your feet, and crystal clear blue water with dolphins playing in the bay, itβs easy to see why we love this place so much.
For that exact reason, we have created this guide to Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve so many others can explore and experience the magic of this National Park.

About Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve
The Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve falls into the section of coastline known as the Rainbow Coast. Starting in the Albany region the Rainbow Coast runs through the Denmark region, covering the well-known Elephant Rocks and Greens Pool and Finishes in the Walpole.
Many of the bays and beaches along the Rainbow Coast are formed of the iconic white quartz sand that squeaks under your feet (we are not sure why this happens).
The Nature Reserve was established in 1967 in order to protect the noisy scrub bird and the surrounding habitat.
But what makes Two Peoples Bay iconic are the two huge boulders that are randomly located in the center of one of the beaches. This beach is called Little Beach and is one of the most popular to visit out of the 3 on offer.

National Park Day Ticket β $13 per vehicle
Tip: If you are planning to visit multiple Western Australia National Parks throughout the year, your best option is to purchase a season pass. At $80 for the year, this works out a lot more cost-effective, rather than paying to enter each individual park.

Once you are displaying your ticket continue along the road until you reach the sign for Little Beach, turning right.Β At the end of this road you will find a small car park where you can leave your vehicle for the day. We arrived here early and had an empty car park to choose from. However, this car park does fill up quickly as it is only small.

Β
Things To Do At Two Peoples Bay Nature ReserveβοΈ
Crystal clear water and white sand is the reason this is one of the best beaches we have ever visited. With Little beach being the main attraction but plenty of other activities to keep you busy all day long.Β
Picnic and BBQβs
Head to the visitors center in the summer months to learn more about the local history and wildlife. Next to the building, you will find a picnic area and gas barbeques. Sheltered from the wind this is a great place to cook up so lunch before heading down to the beaches.
Little Beach Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve
Little Beach is a sheltered Bay which is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. It can also generate some small to medium waves ideal for surfers and bodyboarders. This beach has become popular thanks to a few Instagram drone shots just like this one we took. There are also pods of dolphins that have been spotted a few times playing in the waves.
Next to the Little Beach car park, you can find one toilet, there are more facilities back towards the visitors center.
Waterfall Beach Two Peoples Bay
If your the exploring type we would highly recommend you walk to the very end of Little Beach. There you will find a small track, or you can climb over the rocks which will lead you around to the next bay called Waterfall Beach. This is a much small and more secluded beach with slightly different sand which gives the water a more greener look.
Two Peoples Bay Hike Heritage Trail
If youβre looking for more walking, you should attempt the Two Peoples Bay Heritage Trail which will lead you all through the Nature Reserve. As you pass through the bush walk over into the bay listen out for the endangered noisy scrub bird.
There are 4 parts to the Bay Heritage Trail. The first section is the easiest and will take 30 mins. The full trail isΒ 4.6kmβs long and is graded as a moderate difficulty. We would recommend giving yourself 2 hours for a round trip.
There is an additional 5km spur from this trail, which makes your walking time 4 hours. If you are completing this trail please ensure you have taken enough supplies with you.Β When coastal walking take extra care, tide changes and weather can make rocks slippery.
Sinkers Reef Beach β 4WD Only
Most of the roads throughout the nature reserve are suitable for 2wd vehicles. However, the track from the visitors center down to Sinkers Reef on the most southerly part of the National Park is strictly 4 wheeled drive only.
The track is not an easy journey, but is worth the drive as the views our over the ocean and reef are amazing.
Two Peoples Bay Accommodation π¨
